guests welcome

I read a lot of design magazines and blogs....I love to see the rooms come together.  Since a lot of the readers of this blog will (hopefully) be visiting us this summer, I figured it would be fun to post the guest suite selections. RG has been extremely helpful in keeping me focused on the overall flow of the house. Since we are using bright colors, it is important to stick to a specific scheme, or else it could look like a box of crayons.  She found this beautiful green bedding -
crisp clean bed side tables-
love the seagrass headboard- will warm up all of the white-

It has been great having Robin guide the design.  She has access to so many more product lines (trade only) - and  the best part- budget friendly as well.  I think a lot of people do not realize that you don't have to go super  high- end just because you are using a designer.

We are looking forward to our visitors :)

cool happenings

I had a lot of hits today on the blog- a lot.......so I checked out where they were coming from.  Guess what? Sunbrella Fabrics posted my blog on their facebook page and gave me a shout out on twitter....the internet is a crazy thing huh? I still haven't figured out how to post the link (cut and paste isn't working)....but check it out. Nothing wrong with a little excitement when you are home with two sick kiddos.....the stomach bug continues. Perhaps I should be paying better attention to grammar and spelling :) My friend A will enjoy that.
They also left a comment on my blog.  Cool!

I will be sure to post pictures of the kid, pet and mom friendly furniture once it arrives :)

media cabinet love

The green chairs just got a new best friend.  They will get along very nicely.  The chairs will sit on either side of the cabinet. The cabinet will hide the usual cable box and DVD with room for extra storage.  RG hit another home run.  TV will be on wall above. Did I mention that  the color of the cabinet is called "marshmallow?" Great size and great price......done!

Making up for lost time

So, the stomach bug hit here last night.  Lets just say it wasn't pretty.  Poor Will!  My duvet covers, pillows and sheets all got caught in the crossfire.  But on the bright side, I got to stay home all day with my "baby."  I am a person who likes to stay fairly busy, but sometimes, a full day "in the house" is quite nice. Will is feeling better and I got to spend time catching up on my blog.
Yesterday was a huge day in beach house design.  Robin (designer and friend) arranged a meeting with one of her furniture reps and we made a bunch of decisions.  I have visualized a white slipcovered couch in this house since, ummm, before I even saw the house :)  Ok, I know....3 kids, 2 dogs, coffee, juice boxes, gogurts, cosmos, red wine ....could make the white couch a little tricky....but guess what?  Sunbrella makes beautiful indoor/outdoor fabrics that look fabulous. Problem solved- stain resistant, mildew resistant (think wet bathing suits) and can be easily cleaned. I decided to do all the couches in sunbrella.  Great room will be in white, I already posted the study fabric (blue)- and for the kids playroom - a beautiful aqua.  Thank you Sunbrella.  Who wants to worry about couches when you are trying to chill......No one wants to hear mom yelling (especially on the weekends.)

Now, the master bedroom:
Beautiful bedding by Serena and Lilly.  Robin's Lee Furniture rep is doing a bed just like this for us.  Do you love the nickel nailhead trim?   Can't wait to see it all together.

Ok- and am thrilled with this print Robin found:

It has the blue, it has the green and best of all.....in the budget!  Maybe in the study, maybe in the guest suite.....

The green chairs continued....and more progress

Ok- so the green chairs scared my husband.  I figured I would post the overall scheme for the study-  Thanks Robin!!
solid blue- sectional/sleeper sofa for "more the merrier" weekends ,  floral blue for throw pillows, blue and white ticking stripe on the fabulous green chairs that will flank the media console cabinet. Have to have the green chairs :) See??

Now for the outside progress:

It's been awhile....

Ok, so it's been awhile since my last blog.  I have to admit, it has been a little busy here.  My husband moved his office closer (right here in town) and JTB  renovated the space and made it fantastic!
I spent a little time helping pick out cabinets, appliances, carpet, paint and it now they are  up and running.  The cape house has been moving along, but not without a little drama....the transoms for the sliders arrived and were completely wrong.  The grills didn't line up and lets just say the Andersen rep was less than helpful.  On the humorous side, read today's quote.  I couldn't  make that up if I tried.  Needless to say, the right transoms should be arriving soon.  The siding is going on- the garage door is on order and I am in love with the plumber and electrician.  Seriously.....these guys could not be nicer.  We are making some (ok, a lot) of choices on the fly and they are bending over backwards to accommodate me.  Larry (plumber) from Law Plumbing and Heating  solved a design dilemma today in the master bath and Paul (Cacciola Electric) has been great in helping me figure out (with Robin, see below...)where I should put floor plugs, wall plugs, sconces, pendants, how many recessed lights-  ect......) I changed my mind several times on placement and he handled it with ease.   Paul and Larry also helped get Joe's new office up and running in a hurry -  great guys!

Now for some other good news, my friend Robin has agreed to help me pull the interior together.  This is really great news because she is also an  interior designer (Robin Gannon Interiors.) It has been so nice to have someone help out with all of the details and choices- from the simple things like what size couch to order -to the more complicated issues.....moving already framed windows to accommodate the right size bed and end tables in the guest suite. If she hadn't caught that, I would be trying to fix it later........ She found that fabulous blue backsplash tile  that I posted in a previous blog....it is by Ann Sacks....I"ll post it again, just because I love it so much. GORG!!!!  and on order :)

mater bath tile- also by Ann Sacks- from her basics line (Under $12 a square foot) It looks blue here, but it's really aqua......

She found so many fabulous things....here is a little sample- here is the powder room mirror- it is blue coral- so fun.... white wall, blue accents-----perfect, yes?
ok- how about these little beauties flanking a console in the study?
Color scheme- white slipcovered couches soft blue club chairs- touches of bright green- fabulous!
